The Santa Barbara High School Aquatics Booster Club (ABC) is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit that was established in 2000 for the purpose of supporting all Santa Barbara High School aquatics athletes. The program exists to develop character, self-discipline, and confidence in athletes through competitive aquatic sports regardless of socioeconomic level. The aquatics program operates four seasonal teams: boys water polo, girls water polo, swim and dive and summer water polo camp for both girls and boys. The booster club, in cooperation with local aquatics clubs within the community, seeks to provide constructive aquatic opportunities for all skill levels.
The ABC organization is essential to the aquatics programs as it raises funds to provide: a scholarship and financial aid program promoting additional participating for many athletes, pool equipment; benches, water polo cages, balls, timing and scoreboards, athlete gear; swim suits and team gear; referees, staffing and facilities for food and beverages for host tournaments; travel and tournament fees for away tournaments; supplemental compensation to coaches for special training programs such as the summer camp, weightlifting supervision for athletes; awards and related events; and support for fundraising efforts.
Funding for school athletes decreases every year but students involved in sports make great scholars. Community and parental support of the booster club is critical to the development of these athletes and the continued success of what has been an extraordinary program generating many outstanding teams. Booster club membership and donations provide necessary funds to support the aquatics athletes and programs.
