Robert J Goligoski (RJ)

JV water Polo Coach/Aquatic Activities Coordinator

Brings over 15 years of water polo experience, driven by a relentless work ethic and an unwavering dedication to Santa Barbara High School’s aquatics program. Coached and mentored by Coach Walsh, he developed a deep respect and love for the sport, learning invaluable lessons in leadership and mentorship that now shape his own coaching style.

Robert began his journey as a goalkeeper before successfully transitioning to the field, sharpening his skills with the Santa Barbara Water Polo Club and later competing with Premier Water Polo Club. At SBHS, he played at the F/S, J/V, and varsity levels, earning multiple varsity letters, and continued his playing career at Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo, CA.

A proud product of SBHS tradition, Coach Robert has been honored with the Clarence Schutte Dons Tradition Award, recognized as a Distinguished Don, and presented the Principal’s Award by John Becchio in 2018—testaments to his dedication, character, and impact on the Dons community.

Beyond his accomplishments in the pool, Coach Robert holds a Bachelor’s degree in Digital Filmmaking—an asset that enhances his ability to communicate effectively, think creatively, and connect with his athletes. Known for his hands-on approach, he leads by example, showing his players that dedication, resilience, and hard work are the foundation of success.

Whether running high-intensity practices, mentoring athletes through challenges, or fostering a culture of teamwork and respect, Coach Robert’s mission is clear: to develop not only strong players, but confident leaders who carry their love for the game far beyond the pool.
