Looking for a way to stay in shape, compete, and represent Santa Barbara High in the spring? Join the SBHS Swim & Dive Team — we’d love to have you on deck.

The swim season begins in the spring and includes both boys and girls teams, coached by Mark Walsh and Robert Goligoski. We offer two levels: Junior Varsity and Varsity, and all athletes are encouraged to work hard, improve their times, and compete with pride. Our team participates in a full schedule of home and away meets, and we often send relay teams to CIF when we hit qualifying times.

If you’re a water polo player not competing in another spring sport, you’re expected to swim. Swim practices and meets serve as our off-season training, helping you stay in shape and sharpen your endurance for the fall or winter seasons. If you play club water polo, we understand the commitment — and you’ll be given some rest days to avoid burnout.

However, participation in swim matters. Choosing not to swim without prior communication may impact your water polo status — including losing captain eligibility, being moved down a level, or potentially being removed from the team entirely. We value commitment, and swim season is a key part of our program culture.

The dive team competes during the same season and focuses on developing technical skills while competing in several meets throughout the spring. It’s a great option for athletes who want to build body control, confidence, and add a new dimension to their aquatic abilities.

If you’re ready to push yourself, support your teammates, and compete with energy — we want you on the swim (or dive) team this spring.
